Your Home Crisis Guidebook for a Survival Situation or a SHTF

Family.  They say family is one of the most important things in life. If it is just you and the wife or you and the husband, they are family. If you have kids, and your kids have kids, now that’s a family, and no doubt they are very important to you. If you are reading […]

Another Place To Consider for Preps or Last Minute Preps

It’s Sunday morning, or it was Sunday morning, I should say.  I was sitting at Starbucks for the first time in a couple of months, sipping on a coffee trying to read a book, when a couple of older women sat down next to me, and started yapping and gossiping, being, frankly loud and obnoxious. […]

Lessons in Preserving Meats and Poultry

This past labor day weekend, a buddy and I went camping.  Not like real camping, however, in the woods with no facilities, and no one around for miles, but to a piece of property his family owns that he will likely use as a Bug Out Location.  It has a 5th Wheel on it, as […]

Made In The USA? No Made In Elsewhere.

This may end up being more of a rant than not, but I wanted to write a little blurb about how I am trying to buy these days.  I have been looking for “Made in USA” labels recently.  I have a strong belief that money that circulates here in our country is better served than […]

States of Awareness, Jeff Cooper’s “Cooper Codes”

This was originally published on 05/2004 by someone else, somewhere else, and I copied and pasted it to a word document for my own personal reference.  It goes into the states of awareness that I think all suburbanites should be aware of when making through their day in the suburbs or the city.  It is […]

I Tried Making Butter, and It Was A Disaster

Well, I tried making some homemade butter.  And, maybe disaster was the wrong word… Apparently, my biggest mistake was using heavy cream that was “ultra pasteurized.”  It turned out like flat whipped cream sludge.  It probably could have been used as a prop in a movie for some sort of plasma.

Smoked Turkey Update, Turkey Is Smoked and Resting Before Dinner

Well, the Smoked Turkey experiment is almost done.  We are fully smoked, and the picture to the left is the turkey as I unplugged the smoker.  I took the temperature, and it seemed good to me by sticking the thermometer in the thigh of the turkey.  The turkey is resting in the smoker right now off heat […]
