As I went to bed without checking the news, I guess I was one of the last people in the world to learn of the death of Osama Bin Laden. As someone whose life-view was changed by 9/11, this is a momenteous event. Justice was slow but, in the end, final.
For preppers concern about terrorist attacks, nothing really changes. There still are people out there who want to harm and kill us. The loss of a leader, no matter how important, will not lessen the need to prepare. In fact, the risk may have gone up as word of OBL’s death filters out to the jihadis. If there are sleeper cells ready to act, now is the time when they may wake up. As far as I can tell, the capacity to attack in US soil is extremely limited or they would have done it already. On the other hand, perhaps we have gotten lucky for the past 10 years. Luck is never a strategy for success.
Regardless, the onus is on us to continue to prepare, so that if something happens, we can deal with it individually or as a nation. Be prepared. Build redundancies. Be resilient. Adapt. Survive!
You’re absolutely right. Prepping is little more than being prepared. We hope for the best and plan for the worst. The fact that Bin Laden is purportedly not walking around any more really has no affect on our efforts.
The most likely need for our preparation is the loss of a job. Prep for that. What about localized disasters like floods, tornados, etc. As powerful as Bin Laden may have been in terms of terrorism, he couldn’t control the weather.
Keep prepping and sleep better at night.

What was the last thing to go through OBL’s mind before he died?
