Wednesday night December 22th, 2010 I will be on the Prepper Podcast Radio Network on Blog Talk Radio, with Host Ed Corcoran the editor of the new Magazine “The Complete Survivalist.” The broadcast starts at 9:00 p.m., and I am looking forward to speaking with Ed. We have been chatting on and off via Skype the past couple of weeks, and he and I have similar views on a couple of the topics we discussed, and I am excited to be his guest. I want to thank him for this opportunity ahead of time.

Good interview.
I like what you said about “The Colony”. Good decision.
I’m part of a history group (no relation to survival) that is frequently contacted by producers of well known national TV shows for input on places they can film, stories of the places, and even for us to be on the shows. In fact, the founder/leader of the group had been given a contract to be the lead guy on a very popular reality TV show! But he turned it down (and the group usually turns down most TV appearance requests) for the same reasons you mention — makes our organization look bad and others in the field look kooky or pseudo-science at best, a joke at worse.
Yeah, I understand why they ask, but at the same time, there are also things I don’t know and if I am one of the lucky/unlucky group they decide to focus on for six to eight weeks, and hear, “you and everyone like you are crazy,” when it is all over. No thanks, I’ll keep what I do to myself. Thanks for listening. I am curious to know how many people actually listen/listened…
I like “The Colony” though clearly it’s far from total reality (no one ever gets seriously hurt in the raider attacks and you never see weapons more powerful than mace or stun sticks for example).
Does that mean season 3 will be them following a real prepper or group instead of a contrived scenario?
I don’t think so. I was approached about season two. I did hear from a friend who follows the forums that they are going to be harder on them in season three, as well as keep them more sleep deprived, because a lot of people are complaining on the forums that the colonists are too sheltered and really not exposed to what might actually be real life stresses… So will see…
Looking forward to it. Got a bunch of people at work hooked on it.
Would be interesting to put the people in a cold climate this time too.
